At Homelink ECO, Being Responsible Means Saying Goodbye to PFAS
Saying Goodbye to PFAS
At Homelink ECO, innovation is rooted in responsibility. PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are synthetic chemicals used to resist oil and water in many consumer products—from non-stick cookware to food packaging. But these chemicals don’t break down easily. They linger—in soil, water, and even food—with growing concern about their impact on health and the environment.
Do Our Products Contain PFAS?
Some of our earlier bagasse-based food packaging used PFAS to deliver oil resistance. None of our other product ranges contain added PFAS.
We’ve taken bold steps to lead where the industry must follow. Through substantial R&D investment, we've engineered a new generation of plant-fibre materials that deliver performance—without PFAS. These new materials are certified home compostable and will replace all PFAS-containing items from July 2024 onward. Product pages clearly indicate PFAS-free status to help customers make informed choices.
We’re working in partnership with regulatory and industry bodies in Australia and New Zealand to phase out PFAS across the food packaging sector.
Is PFAS Compostable?
No. International certification bodies—like DIN CERTCO and the Australasian Bioplastics Association (ABA)—do not certify products with more than 100 ppm total fluorine/PFAS as compostable.
That’s why we’re proud to guarantee that our new and upcoming packaging is made with no intentionally added PFAS and is certified home compostable. This is a future-ready solution that closes the loop, protects nature, and stays true to our values.
